scholarUniSA MOOC platform is a portal that allows anyone to register and take free open courses. These courses are free so you don’t even have to be a UniSA student to take them.
The platform runs on the Sakai Learning Management System which is one of the most popular LMS for universities.
How UniSA MOOC Works
The MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) platform is Learning Management System that UniSA put free courses for anyone who is pursuing knowledge in specific fields.
These courses are absolutely free so you don’t have to pay anything to take them. There might not be the usual courses you have to pay to study at the University but some of them are part of what you must study at the university.
As the saying goes; “No Knowledge is too small to acquire“. So no matter the type, of course, it is still worth the study.
The platform is very simple to use.
- All you have to do is simply go to https://mooc.unisa.ac.za/portal
- Click on “New Account“
- Fill in the correct information.
- If you are a UniSA student, then you can use your Student ID Number in place of “User ID“. Else, use anything you can easily remember.
After registration, you will now have access to all the courses available on the platform. To access the courses available, use the procedure below.
- From your dashboard, click on “Membership“
- Click on “Joinable sites“
- There will be a number of courses available. Simply click “Join” beneath any of them to join.
You can always check your courses under “My current sites” from the membership dashboard.
FYE MOOC
UniSA FYE MOOC is a First-Year Experience MOOC. It is a type of UniSA course for first-time UniSA applicants. If the application is successful and UniSA offers you the available spaces, you must first complete the FYE MOOC before you will be able to accept the offer.
Since this is for first-time applicants, you don’t need a Students ID Number to register. You can also use the procedures above to register.
During the MOOC selection, make sure you join “FYE MOOC 1500“. This is the First-Year Experience MOOC for the new applicants.
